Excellence Award in Legislative Activities
Honored with the Award for Four Consecutive Years
Seungil Jeon, Chairman of the Seo District Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City, received the Excellence Award in the legislative activities category at the "2025 Local Legislative Awards" held at the DMC Advanced Industry Center on the 13th. This award is particularly significant as it recognizes achievements made through direct communication with residents under the slogan "Change and Innovation, Communication and Cooperation." With this, Chairman Jeon has earned the honor of winning the award for four consecutive years.
The "Local Legislative Awards," sponsored by the Council of Provincial and Metropolitan Council Chairmen of the Republic of Korea and organized by Law Journal, is a prestigious award given after a comprehensive evaluation of ordinance proposals, policy suggestions, research activities, and contributions to improving residents' quality of life. It targets council members from 243 metropolitan and basic local councils nationwide (for the legislative activities category) and council research groups across the country (for the policy research category).
This year, a total of 46 recipients were selected for the Local Legislative Awards, including 39 individuals in the legislative activities category and 7 organizations in the policy research category.
Chairman Jeon was recognized for his contributions, including enacting ordinances that reflect local issues, resident-friendly legislative activities, protecting the rights and interests of vulnerable groups, and discovering policies closely related to daily life.
Chairman Jeon stated, "Receiving this award for four consecutive years is a great personal honor and a meaningful achievement that brings an even greater sense of responsibility. The foundation of legislative work is to reflect the voices of residents, and I will continue to do my best to discover ordinances and policies needed in everyday life to improve the quality of life for our residents."
He added, "In particular, I will do my part to ensure the protection of vulnerable groups and the implementation of policies closely related to daily life, while strengthening communication with residents and continuing legislative activities that drive real change in Seo District."
In addition to this award, Chairman Jeon was also recognized for his various legislative activities, receiving the Local Legislative Service Award from the Council of City, County, and District Council Chairmen of Korea in August.
