Daegu Dalseo-gu Invests 20.5 Billion Won to Establish 'Social Economy Support Center'... "One-Stop Support from Startup Onward"

On September 12, Daegu Dalseo-gu (District Mayor Lee Taehoon) held the opening ceremony for the Dalseo-gu Social Economy Support Center, which will serve as a forward base for the region's social economy.

Dalseo-gu is the only one among Daegu's nine districts and counties to establish and operate a Social Economy Support Center, thereby launching a comprehensive one-stop support system, from startup assistance to market expansion and network building.

Daegu Dalseo-gu Invests 20.5 Billion Won to Establish 'Social Economy Support Center'... "One-Stop Support from Startup Onward" Participants are cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony of the Daegu Dalseo-gu Social Economy Support Center.

The center oversees the development of policy models tailored to local conditions, formulates mid- to long-term development strategies, and builds networks among social economy enterprises. In addition, it systematically supports companies from (preliminary) startup to growth stages by providing office space, education and consulting, and support for digital content production.

The Social Economy Support Center was established as part of the urban regeneration New Deal project in Jukjeon-dong, Dalseo-gu, Daegu, together with the Daegu Jukjeon Happy Housing complex.

With a total project cost of 20.5 billion won, a site area of 2,445 square meters, and a total floor area of 4,980 square meters, the seven-story building consists of a parking lot on the first floor, the Social Economy Support Center on the second floor, and 50 Happy Housing units on the third to seventh floors.

The center includes six office spaces for tenants (five individual, one shared), a community promotion hall, medium and small meeting rooms (training rooms), a Digital Hope Studio, and a Hope Cafe.

Through a recruitment announcement and review process in April, nine (preliminary) entrepreneurs or companies were selected for the office spaces and are moving in sequentially.

The community promotion hall supports market expansion and brand awareness by providing exhibitions, videos, and materials introducing the social economy, as well as permanent exhibitions of products and services from outstanding local companies. The Digital Hope Studio serves as a multipurpose space for new distribution channels, such as product photography, content production, and live commerce operations.

The Hope Cafe will be operated by the Daegu Dalseo Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, selected through a public recruitment process, and is planned to function as an open, complex cultural space linked to the community promotion hall and outdoor garden.

Dalseo-gu plans to utilize the center's training rooms to sequentially implement practical programs, including customized competitiveness enhancement programs for each stage of business growth, capacity building for AI transformation, consulting for attracting social impact investment, and linkage with integrated care priority response systems, thereby supporting market entry for (preliminary) entrepreneurs and strengthening the sustainability of existing businesses.

Lee Taehoon, Mayor of Dalseo-gu, Daegu, stated, "I hope that the Dalseo-gu Social Economy Support Center will establish itself as a core economic model that leads urban revitalization and the activation of local communities by serving as a hub for social economy, providing one-stop support from startup to growth, promotion, and network building."
