The "Republic of Korea Grand Safety Transformation Intensive Safety Inspection" is a nationwide safety culture campaign led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. It aims to proactively prevent disasters and raise public safety awareness through safety inspections involving central government agencies, local governments, and citizens. This year, the campaign was conducted over 61 days, from April 14 to June 13.

With its selection as an outstanding autonomous district in this year's intensive safety inspection evaluation, Seongdong District became the first in Seoul to earn this distinction for four consecutive years, from 2022 to 2025.

In this evaluation, the district received high marks for active voluntary participation by residents, selection of inspection targets focused on facilities at risk of disasters and accidents, and strong performance in post-management, demonstrated by a high rate of follow-up actions.

This year, Seongdong District conducted joint inspections, involving private sector experts, on a total of 81 safety-vulnerable facilities. For issues that could be addressed on-site, immediate corrective actions were taken. For facilities requiring repairs or reinforcement, improvement plans were established and implemented, with ongoing management planned for the future.

Additionally, the district is committed not only during the annual intensive safety inspection period but throughout the year, conducting regular monitoring and prompt repair and reinforcement of safety-vulnerable facilities. These efforts aim to reduce safety blind spots and create a safer living environment for all residents.

Jung Wono, Mayor of Seongdong District, stated, "Being selected as an outstanding autonomous district for four consecutive years in the intensive safety inspection evaluation is the result of everyone working together to create an environment where residents can live with peace of mind." He added, "We will continue to prioritize safety above all else and strive to make Seongdong a safe community for all residents."
