President Jaemyung Lee has approved the appointments of Eokwon Lee as Chairman of the Financial Services Commission and Byungki Joo as Chairman of the Fair Trade Commission.
On the 13th, an official from the presidential office stated, "The appointment proposals for both individuals have been approved." The approval was finalized the previous day, on the 12th.
The confirmation hearing period for both nominees ended on the 8th. However, as the National Assembly did not adopt the confirmation hearing reports, President Lee requested that the reports be submitted by the 11th.
According to the Confirmation Hearing Act, if the confirmation hearing reports are not adopted within the specified period, the president may request their resubmission within a period of up to 10 days. If the National Assembly still does not comply, the president may proceed with the appointments without the reports.
