Gwangsan District of Gwangju to Hold 2025 Participatory Budget Festival Selected by Residents

Village project ideas discovered directly by residents of Gwangsan District in Gwangju will be presented on stage to determine whether they will be reflected in next year's district budget.

On September 13, Gwangsan District announced that it will hold the 2025 Participatory Budget Festival under the slogan "The Power of Citizens as Owners, Participatory Budgeting" at the Gwangsan Culture and Arts Center on the 24th. On this day, residents will share the issues and proposals they have identified, and select participatory budget project tasks to be included in next year's budget through resident participation.


On the same day, representatives from 21 neighborhoods in Gwangsan District will present 44 proposed projects prepared by residents, such as the creation of the "Moonlight Hydrangea Garden" and the operation of the "Village Learning Center." They will gather ideas to solve village problems and share implementation methods and expected outcomes. After the presentations, the Participatory Budget Committee will conduct on-site evaluations based on criteria such as effectiveness and sustainability.


Prior to the festival, Gwangsan District is conducting an online preliminary vote until the 17th. By combining the results of the on-site evaluation and the online vote, the three most promising projects will be selected and awarded the "New Award," "Beneficial Award," and "Sustainable Award."
