Jeonnam Province is assigning road names to hiking trails, circular paths, and exploration routes across 15 sections in 5 cities and counties. This initiative aims to enhance the safety and convenience of residents, utilize unique local road names as tourism resources, and strengthen the regional brand.

Recently, with the global success of the Netflix animation K-Pop Demon Hunters, there has been a growing demand to move beyond shopping-centered tourism and directly experience Korea's nature and culture. As a result, interest in 'K-Hiking' and 'K-Trekking' is also increasing.

In response, Jeonnam Province plans to continue assigning and managing road names for forest trails, enabling foreign visitors to enjoy trekking courses not only on famous mountains like Namsan and Seoraksan but also along local forest paths, allowing them to experience Korea’s four seasons and landscapes.

Previously, forest trails were not clearly marked on maps or navigation systems, making it difficult for visitors to find them. With the assignment of road names, anyone can now easily check their locations, significantly improving accessibility and enabling a quicker response in case of safety incidents.

Addresses can also be assigned to various facilities around the forest trails, such as public restrooms, shelters, and information centers, allowing for systematic management and more convenient use.

The forest trails that have been assigned road names include: Goraksan Circular Trail in Yeosu, Byeongpungsan Forest Trail in Damyang, Palyongsan Cypress Healing Forest Trail in Goheung, Boeunsan Trail in Gangjin, and Bulgap Reservoir Water Meditation Trail, Bulgap Theme Park Lycoris Trail, and Lycoris 1 Trail in Yeonggwang. These are expected to provide useful information for tourists and family visitors.

Moon Ingi, Director of Construction and Transportation at Jeonnam Province, said, "Assigning road names to forest trails is more than a simple administrative procedure; it is an important policy that enhances the safety and quality of life for residents."
