Gwangju City Opens Gosan Culture Nuri Center,
a Community-Based Complex Cultural Space
A New Hub for Culture and Welfare Emerges

Gwangju City in Gyeonggi Province held the opening ceremony of the Gosan Culture Nuri Center on the 12th and officially began its operation.

Approximately 130 people attended the opening ceremony, including Mayor Bang Sehwan of Gwangju City, members of the National Assembly, provincial and city council members, heads of institutions and social organizations, and local residents, celebrating the birth of a new hub for culture and welfare.


The event was enlivened by a variety of pre-ceremony performances, including a Gilnori performance by the Gwangjiwon Nongak Troupe, a congratulatory stage by youth resident Koo Minseo, and a brass band performance by Swing Girls.

The program continued with an unveiling ceremony and commemorative photo, a progress report, commemorative and congratulatory speeches, as well as a tour of the main facilities.


In his commemorative speech, Mayor Bang Sehwan emphasized, "The Gosan Culture Nuri Center is a complex cultural space where generations can learn, enjoy, and come together, as well as a new hub for culture and welfare. We will always stand with our citizens to realize a Gwangju City where three generations-children, youth, and seniors-can be happy, offering dreams to children, opportunities to youth, and welfare to seniors."

The Gosan Culture Nuri Center was built with a total project cost of 36.4 billion won. The facility has two underground floors and five above-ground floors, with a total floor area of 8,236 square meters.


The building houses four institutions: the Opo Library, the Gosan Life Culture Center, the 13th Together Care Center, and the Gwangju City Childcare Support Center "Gosan Kkalkkal Playground." It operates as a community-focused, multi-purpose facility combining library services, cultural activities, child care, and parenting support.
