According to an analysis of tourism big data by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Gangwon Tourism Organization, the number of visitors to Taebaek in July 2025 increased by 20.7% compared to the same month last year, and by 47.6% compared to the previous month.

This surge is attributed to Taebaek's climatic advantage as a "highland city without tropical nights" even during the nationwide heatwave, combined with the success of the 10th Han River and Nakdong River Headwaters Festival. The spread of Taebaek's image as a "refreshing summer resort" through media and social networks also appears to have contributed to the increase in visitors.

Additionally, Taebaek City is evaluated to have created demand for longer stays by expanding experiential programs during the festival period, such as the Untangodo 1330 Trail, Starlight Yoga, and Taebaek in Headwaters Backpacking.

A Taebaek City official stated, "Even during the hottest season, the combination of a pleasant climate, accessibility, and a variety of experiential content is spreading the image of 'summer equals Taebaek.' We will expand customized tourism content for all four seasons so that visitors continue to come during the autumn and winter as well."
