The Yeosu City Hall yacht team became champions in the mixed double category at the "23rd Chief of Naval Operations Cup National Yacht Competition and National Team Selection," held from the 4th to the 8th in Geoje City, Gyeongnam Province.
The team’s key athletes, Kim Changju and Lee Kyungjin, secured their qualification to represent South Korea at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, signaling their potential for strong performances on the international stage.

This competition, the largest yachting festival in South Korea, was hosted by the Republic of Korea Navy and the Korea Sailing Federation, with sponsorship from Geoje City and the Geoje Marine Tourism Development Corporation. The Yeosu City Hall athletes demonstrated outstanding skills and teamwork amid fierce competition to claim the top position.
Kim Changju and Lee Kyungjin officially secured their spots as national representatives for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games through this event. This achievement is credited to consistent training and systematic support from Yeosu City, and both athletes are expected to further elevate the reputation and stature of South Korea and Yeosu City in various international competitions.
Mayor Jung Kimyung stated, "Our athletes winning a nationwide competition and being selected as national representatives is a testament to the passion for sports in Yeosu City.
