This additional recruitment targets the demolition of slate buildings (both residential and non-residential) and the disposal of slate that has been stored or abandoned in villages. For non-residential buildings, the scope of support has been expanded beyond warehouses and livestock sheds, which were covered until last year, to now include facilities for the elderly and children as defined in Article 2, Paragraph 2 of the Building Act.

Applications can be submitted at the local administrative welfare centers in each town or township. The recruitment may close early if the project budget is exhausted.

For residential buildings, up to 3.52 million won per building will be provided for slate demolition and disposal costs. Households eligible for basic living support and those in the lower income bracket will receive full support.

For non-residential buildings, support will be provided for demolition costs within a slate area of up to 200 square meters per building. If the demolition and disposal costs exceed the maximum support amount, the applicant will be responsible for the excess costs.

The county expects that this project will make a significant contribution to creating a safer residential environment by swiftly demolishing asbestos buildings that threaten residents' health and establishing a pleasant living environment.

It is also anticipated that the project will help prevent illegal dumping or abandonment issues that may arise during the slate disposal process, thereby enhancing environmental protection.

Kwon Boksun, head of the Environmental Division, said, "We hope that those who wish to receive slate disposal support will actively apply during the additional recruitment period and benefit from the project."
