"Introduction of Online Donation System"
On September 12, Seo-gu District in Gwangju signed a contract with the private platform "WeGive," operated by Gonggammanse Co., Ltd. (CEO Doohwan Ko), to promote the Hometown Love Donation Program.
Seo-gu plans to introduce a donation system optimized for online and mobile environments to expand participation among younger generations and establish a more stable fundraising base.
In particular, WeGive has been operating as the main platform for hometown love donation reception since December of last year, in line with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's digital service opening policy. Last year, it achieved results by raising a total of 4.44 billion won from 17 local governments.
This year, the district has expanded its donation return gifts to 57 items from 32 companies, focusing on developing sales channels for local agricultural and specialty products as well as outstanding goods. Seo-gu has also appointed Korea Master Craftsmen Yoosung Ahn and Okcheon Ma as promotional ambassadors to further promote the Hometown Love Donation Program.
Previously, Seo-gu opened the 10th branch of its flagship welfare brand, "1,000-Won Guksi," using the hometown love fund. The district is also supporting the "1,000-Won Taxi" transportation welfare policy, providing transportation subsidies for medically vulnerable groups.
Lee Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, stated, "Through our collaboration with WeGive, we will create an environment where more people can contribute to the development of their hometowns based in Seo-gu, Gwangju. We will do our utmost to ensure that these valuable donations lead to revitalizing the local economy and improving residents' welfare."
Doohwan Ko, CEO of Gonggammanse Co., Ltd., said, "We will do our best to activate the Seo-gu Hometown Love Donation Program through differentiated promotional strategies."
