Recruitment of a Leading Authority in Art Therapy for Children and Adolescents
Fostering Practice-Oriented Art Counseling Professionals

Daegu Cyber University (President Lee Geunyong, Graduate School Dean Yoon Eunkyung) has appointed Professor Geunmae Lee, a leading authority in the field of art therapy for children and adolescents, as a Distinguished Professor in the Department of Art Counseling at the Graduate School. Starting from the second semester of the 2025 academic year, she has begun mentoring doctoral students.

The position of Distinguished Professor is conferred upon individuals with outstanding achievements in academia or industry to engage them in education and research activities.


President Lee Geunyong stated, "Psychological and emotional support for children and adolescents is a critical issue that our society must address. By integrating Distinguished Professor Geunmae Lee's extensive clinical experience and research capabilities into the graduate curriculum, we expect to further strengthen our practice-oriented and research-integrated education that solves real-world problems." He added, "As a university specializing in rehabilitation, welfare, and therapy, Daegu Cyber University will do its utmost to nurture art counseling professionals who contribute to both the local community and the nation."


Distinguished Professor Geunmae Lee holds a bachelor's degree from Kyungnam University, a master's degree from the University of Tsukuba in Japan, and a doctorate from Daegu University. She has taught students at Daegu University, Daejeon University, and Pyeongtaek University, and has also lectured for many years in the Department of Art Therapy (undergraduate) at Daegu Cyber University.


She previously served as president of the Korean Association of Professors of Art Therapy, and has devoted many years to art therapy and counseling for children and adolescents in clinical settings such as special therapy centers and developmental disability research institutes. She is currently serving as the chairperson of the Korean Association of Developmental Rehabilitation Therapists.


As a Distinguished Professor, she plans to focus on nurturing practice-oriented and research-integrated professionals in the doctoral program of the Department of Art Counseling, centering on the "Advanced Art Therapy Seminar" course, leveraging her extensive clinical and field experience as well as research expertise.


The Department of Art Counseling at the Graduate School of Daegu Cyber University will begin accepting applications for new master's and doctoral students for the 2026 academic year starting November 1, while applications for new and transfer undergraduate students will open on December 1.
