"In 2045, what kind of world will we be living in?"

On the morning of September 12, Gyesong High School in Daegu, led by Principal Park Hyundong, held a "Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony for the 100th Anniversary of Liberation" on its campus. The event was organized to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation and to pass on the spirit of the independence movement and the value of patriotism to future generations.

Officials from the Daegu Regional Veterans Office, teachers, and students attended the ceremony, celebrating the 80th anniversary of liberation together and sharing messages to be delivered to future generations.

The time capsule contains a variety of items, including hand-copied versions of the Declaration of Independence by students, the Korean Youth Manifesto, Gyesong High School merchandise, photographs of students, and a USB drive with videos expressing their hopes and aspirations for the future. The capsule will be stored in a commemorative space at the school and is scheduled to be opened in 2045, the 100th anniversary of liberation, together with the next generation of students.

Through this ceremony, Gyesong High School conveyed the educational significance of inheriting the history of the independence movement and creating future value to its students.

The "Time Capsule Sealing Ceremony for the 100th Anniversary of Liberation" is part of a youth veterans education program promoted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to mark the 80th anniversary of liberation, and will be held at 100 schools nationwide throughout 2025.

Kim Jongsul, head of the Daegu Regional Veterans Office, stated, "This time capsule sealing ceremony is an important milestone, commemorating 80 years since liberation and continuing the spirit of the independence movement as we look toward the next 20 years.
