Equipped with Asia's Largest Experience Center and Professional Club-Level Training Infrastructure
Gijang County (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on September 12 that it has completed the construction of the "Baseball Experience Center and Indoor Baseball Practice Facility" at Gijang Baseball Theme Park (Dongbaek-ri, Ilgwang-eup), the largest baseball complex cultural space in Korea.
This facility broke ground in September 2023 and was completed on September 10, 2025. It was built with a total project cost of 29 billion won, consisting of four above-ground floors and a total floor area of 7,570 square meters. After a trial operation period of three to four months, it is scheduled to officially open in the first half of next year.
The Baseball Experience Center, expanded from the originally planned three floors to four, is now one of the largest in Asia. Visitors can experience all aspects of baseball, including pitching, batting, fielding, and base running. The center also features differentiated content such as a digital media experience zone and a photo zone.
The Indoor Baseball Practice Facility measures 50 meters by 50 meters by 28 meters and is equipped with a pitching practice area, fitness center, physical therapy room, physical fitness assessment room, and shower facilities, all tailored for players. There are also exclusive spaces for coaching staff, such as a strategy analysis room, enabling training at a professional club level.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang County, stated, "With this completion, Gijang Baseball Theme Park has emerged as the first, largest, and highest-level baseball complex cultural space in Korea. Once the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame is established, Gijang will become the central hub commemorating 120 years of Korean baseball history and 40 years of professional baseball."
Currently, Gijang Baseball Theme Park operates four standard baseball fields (Gijang-Hyundai Motor Dream Ballpark), one little league field, and one softball field. Based on these facilities, it has successfully hosted international and national tournaments such as the U-18 Baseball World Cup and the U-15 National Youth Baseball Championship, and is gaining attention as a training site for both domestic and international professional and amateur baseball teams.
In the future, the Korea Baseball Hall of Fame (scheduled to open in 2026) and a youth hostel (expected in 2028) will be added, further expanding Gijang County's baseball infrastructure.
