This lecture was organized as part of the city's "Dasan Jeong Yak-yong Brand Project," with the aim of sharing the values and direction of local autonomy with citizens by reinterpreting Jeong Yak-yong's philosophy in a modern context.

The event featured Professor Kim Moonsik from the Department of History at Dankook University, a leading scholar in Jeong Yak-yong and Silhak studies, who delivered an in-depth lecture on "Jeong Yak-yong's Interpretation of Myeongdeok and Local Autonomy." In addition, a variety of content was presented by the Namyangju-style youth talent platform "Descendants of Jeong Yak-yong," including an a cappella performance by Kang Inchang and a viola and cello performance by Lee Eunjung, which received enthusiastic responses from the participants.

In his lecture, Professor Kim Moonsik explained the philosophical foundation that resident autonomy should pursue, centered on Jeong Yak-yong's "Myeongdeok" philosophy, and specifically presented how the practical wisdom found in classical texts can be applied to the development of local autonomy today.

Deputy Mayor Hong Jiseon, who attended the event, stated, "I hope this lecture will serve as an opportunity for residents to reflect on their pride in living in Namyangju, the city of Jeong Yak-yong, and to gain a deeper understanding of the value and significance of resident autonomy."

Meanwhile, the city plans to establish a Namyangju-style resident autonomy education model and support the continuous capacity building of resident autonomy committee members by operating resident autonomy education programs that reflect Jeong Yak-yong's philosophy and thought, including this Resident Autonomy Humanities Concert.
