"Kim Geonhee Did Not Believe Yoon Would Actually Declare Martial Law...Plastic Surgery Clinic Visit Confirmed"

"If Kim Geonhee Had Known About Martial Law, She Would Have Stopped Yoon"
"Jeon Hangil Is Seriously Considering Asylum," Says Seo

Attorney Seo Jungwook, who is reportedly in communication with the former President Yoon Sukyeol and his wife, both currently in detention, stated that Kim Geonhee did indeed visit a plastic surgery clinic on December 3 of last year, the day martial law was illegally declared. Seo presented this as evidence supporting the claim that "Kim was completely unaware of former President Yoon's plan to declare martial law." On the September 11 broadcast of MBC Radio's "Kwon Soonpyo's News High Kick," Seo said, "On the day of martial law, I heard that Kim Geonhee went to a plastic surgery clinic. At first, I thought it was fake news, so I checked with her family and confirmed that she did go to the clinic." He added, "She didn't know. If she had known about the martial law, would she have gone to a plastic surgery clinic?"

Previously, Assemblyman Jang Kyungtae of the Democratic Party of Korea claimed on December 23 of last year, "On the day of the illegal martial law on December 3, Kim Geonhee entered a plastic surgery clinic in Gangnam-gu, Seoul at 6:25 p.m. and stayed there for three hours until 9:30 p.m., before the martial law was declared." At that time, former President Yoon's side strongly denied the claim, calling it a "malicious rumor" and "groundless gossip." If Seo's statement is true, it would mean that former President Yoon's camp issued a false explanation.

Seo further suggested a hypothesis that if Kim Geonhee had known former President Yoon's intentions in advance, the illegal martial law incident might never have occurred. When the host asked, "Kim Geonhee was involved in many matters and was even called 'V0,' higher than the president, so is it possible she didn't know about the martial law?" Seo replied, "Kim Geonhee is actually at the top of the power hierarchy. If she had known, she would have absolutely stopped it. Martial law could not have succeeded." He emphasized again, "Kim Geonhee has exceptional judgment, even better than the former president. If she had known, she would have stopped it. She simply didn't know."

Seo also shared how the former president and his wife, both detained in a detention center, are preparing for their trials. Seo said, "Right now, former President Yoon is quite optimistic, saying, 'What is there to try in an insurrection case? I'm innocent.' On the other hand, Kim Geonhee, ahead of her first trial, is preparing meticulously." This highlights the stark contrast between the couple's attitudes toward their trials. When the host asked, "If the insurrection charges are confirmed, the sentence could be life imprisonment or even the death penalty. Is former President Yoon really not worried at all?" Seo responded, "Former Presidents Chun Doohwan and Roh Taewoo were also sentenced to life imprisonment, but they were released after two years. No president has ever served the full sentence."

Seo went on to discuss the current situation of Jeon Hangil, a former Korean history lecturer with far-right views who is now residing in the United States. The two have reportedly maintained a close friendship since Jeon’s days as a history lecturer. Recently, Jeon revealed that he is in the United States and mentioned the possibility of "seeking asylum." Seo speculated, "Pastor Son Hyunbo was arrested, so Jeon probably thinks, 'I'm next,' and is anticipating similar persecution." However, Seo added, "Jeon is a pure and na?ve person who tends to see politics as simple, but I can say with 100% confidence that he will never enter politics."
