Promoting Health, Boosting Confidence, and Expanding Opportunities for Participation in Sports Activities
The 14th Daejeon Superintendent’s Cup Sports Competition for Students with Disabilities, an event wishing for students to grow with dreams and hope through sports activities, will be held.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education will host the competition from September 12 to November 20, featuring four sports: track and field, swimming, disc golf, and bowling.
The event is specifically designed to promote the health of students with disabilities, boost their confidence, and expand opportunities for them to participate in sports activities.
As of now, 165 students (135 in track and field, 30 in swimming) have completed their registration for this year’s competition. The final number of participants for disc golf and bowling will be determined through additional applications.
This year, as part of proactive administration by the Sports Association for the Disabled and the Office of Education, the operating system has been improved so that the affiliated sports organizations for each event will directly oversee and manage the competitions. This is expected to further enhance the professionalism and on-site effectiveness of the event.
The competitions will be held separately by sport: track and field on September 12 at Chungnam National University Stadium, swimming on September 14 at Hanbat Swimming Pool, disc golf on October 13 at the Daejeon Sports Center for the Disabled, and bowling on November 20 at Dunsan Grand Bowling Center.
Kim Heejung, Director of Physical Education, Arts, and Health at the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, stated, "This competition will be a festival where students with disabilities can overcome prejudice and enjoy sports together. I hope it will be a valuable experience for the students who have worked hard to prepare, and I wish for them to grow with dreams and hope through sports activities."
