Donghae City in Gangwon Province will host the "Together! Donghae Companion Walking Contest Hansome Edition" on September 13, starting at 11 a.m. from the parking lot across from the Lifelong Learning Center.
This walking contest will take place along the 33rd section of the Haebaranggil Trail, one of Donghae's most renowned coastal routes, with approximately 400 participants expected. The main course covers a round-trip distance of 6 kilometers, stretching from Gamchu Beach to Bugok Stone Wall Village Coastal Forest Park, offering a healthy walking experience amid the natural scenery where the sea and forest blend together.
The city expects this event to not only promote public health and spread walking culture among citizens, but also to help revitalize the local economy and attract tourists. In particular, the goal is to widely publicize Donghae's various walking trails, including the 33rd and 34th sections of the Haebaranggil Trail, and to enhance its reputation as a premier walking destination.
Donghae City has been implementing various programs and promotional activities to invigorate walking courses throughout the city, including the Haebaranggil Trail, and this walking contest has been organized as part of those efforts.
Lee Jinhwa, head of the Tourism Division, stated, "The Haebaranggil Trail is one of Korea's premier walking routes, following the beautiful coastline of Donghae. Through this event, we aim to further spread a culture where citizens and tourists can walk and enjoy together."
