The Gwangju City Council's Special Committee on Personnel Hearing for the Gwangju Women and Family Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the "Personnel Special Committee") appointed an expert on the 12th and began full-scale activities.

The appointed expert is Kim Ranhee, Executive Director of the Gwangju Women's Human Rights Support Center. She is expected to provide advice and guidance on the direction of the personnel hearing, as well as analyze the foundation's work and verify the qualifications of the candidate.

Following the appointment of the expert, the Personnel Special Committee received reports on the main work progress and future plans for the foundation's eight strategic tasks and thirty-four implementation tasks. The committee also reviewed the work and organizational status necessary for candidate verification in advance.

The committee members examined and requested materials on several issues: prevention of sexual violence against women with disabilities and support measures for victims; implementation of city-reflected projects following policy development; selection of projects subject to gender-responsive budgeting; performance plans and evaluations; and the current status of single-person households. They also urged the foundation to actively pursue its current projects and called for thorough preparation, including accurate documentation for candidate verification.

Chairperson Choi Jihyun stated, "In a reality where progress toward democratic values and gender equality in our society remains difficult, there is a need for region-specific women's policy research and proactive responses to changing circumstances. We will comprehensively verify the candidate's qualifications, capabilities, and integrity to ensure that a wide range of effective policies for realizing a gender-equal Gwangju community can be continuously promoted."

Meanwhile, the Personnel Special Committee is scheduled to conduct the candidate personnel hearing on the 30th.
