Efforts to Attract Leading Public Institutions
Regular Joint Review Meetings and More
The Daejeon Seobu Branch of the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service, which provides a variety of labor welfare services such as employment and industrial accident insurance, is relocating to Eojin-dong, Sejong City.
On September 12, Sejong City announced that the Daejeon Seobu Branch of the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service will begin operations on the 7th and 8th floors of the M Bridge building, located south of the Government Sejong Complex, starting from September 15.
The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service is a quasi-governmental agency under the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The Daejeon Seobu Branch has more than 60 employees and oversees approximately 54,000 workplaces and 386,000 workers across Sejong, Yuseong in Daejeon, and Nonsan, Gyeryong, and Gongju in South Chungcheong Province.
Its main work includes employment and industrial accident insurance programs, wage claim guarantee programs, retirement pension programs, and livelihood stabilization loan programs.
Sejong City has supported the smooth relocation of the Daejeon Seobu Branch by recommending office locations with convenient transportation and accessibility, as well as providing administrative support throughout the relocation process.
A city official stated, "With the relocation of the Daejeon Seobu Branch of the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service to Sejong City, accessibility to social welfare services for both citizens and local workers will be greatly improved. We also expect that visits from service users will contribute to boosting local consumption and revitalizing the commercial district."
Previously, in December of last year, the city signed a financial business agreement for the construction of a new multi-purpose complex office building for the Korea Rural Community Corporation. Following the successful relocation of the Daejeon Seobu Branch of the Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service, Sejong City is actively working to attract public institutions. The city plans to continue its efforts to attract high-quality public institutions by regularly holding joint meetings with relevant departments in preparation for the second phase of public institution relocations from the Seoul metropolitan area and by establishing effective attraction strategies.
