Sparrow Forms Partnership with SK Shieldus to Strengthen SW Supply Chain Security

On September 12, Sparrow, an application security company, announced that it will strengthen its software (SW) supply chain security capabilities through collaboration with SK Shieldus in vulnerability assessment business.

Sparrow and SK Shieldus signed a 'Strategic Partnership (MOU) for Collaboration in SW Supply Chain Security and Cybersecurity Vulnerability Assessment Business' at the SK Shieldus headquarters in Pangyo, Seongnam.

The partnership was established to help companies and organizations strengthen their supply chain security capabilities in response to the rapidly increasing SW supply chain threats. Customers will be able to systematically perform essential source code, open source, and web vulnerability analysis throughout the entire SW development process. Both companies agreed to actively cooperate in diagnosing and addressing security vulnerabilities in advance to prevent security incidents.

Specifically, Sparrow will supply its integrated application security testing solution, 'Sparrow Enterprise,' to SK Shieldus. SK Shieldus, the leading cybersecurity company in Korea, will utilize this solution to provide cybersecurity consulting and product sales.

In addition to joint sales and marketing activities, the two companies will strengthen cooperation in the vulnerability assessment business by leveraging the expertise of EQST, Korea's largest white-hat hacker group. EQST actively conducts research on the latest threats, such as ransomware, LLM-based attacks, and web and mobile security, leading the advancement of global security technologies. Based on its extensive penetration testing experience, EQST operates industry-specific hacking scenarios and inspection systems, enabling companies to identify and respond to threats at an early stage.

Lee Jaewoo, Executive Vice President and Head of the Innovation Business Division at SK Shieldus, stated, "Recent supply chain attacks are considered a significant risk that can spread across the entire industry, not just affect a single company." He added, "Through our collaboration with Sparrow, we will actively support customers in embedding security from the software development stage, helping to build a safe digital ecosystem."

Jang Ilsu, CEO of Sparrow, expressed his expectations, saying, "This partnership combines SK Shieldus's unrivaled consulting expertise with Sparrow's proven solutions, enabling more customers to establish vulnerability assessment systems that allow them to proactively respond to SW supply chain attacks."
