This volunteer medical service took place on the 11th at the Osu-myeon Administrative Welfare Center, located in Osu-myeon, Imsil-gun, Jeollabuk-do. Park Byungmo, chairman of Jaseng Medical Foundation, Shin Minsik, chairman of the Social Contribution Committee of Jaseng Medical Foundation, Yeom Seungchul, director of Gwangju Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital, and other medical staff from Jaseng Korean Medicine Hospital provided traditional Korean medical services to approximately 250 local residents.
As rural areas are experiencing rapid aging, the labor burden on elderly farmers increases during each harvest season. As a result, many farmers suffer from various musculoskeletal disorders. However, due to the nature of rural communities, access to medical care is limited, and it is especially difficult to receive proper treatment during the busy farming season. Through this volunteer initiative, Jaseng Medical Foundation aimed to support farmers' health and help them maintain their well-being in the long term.
In particular, special attention to health is needed ahead of the autumn season. From September, the temperature difference between day and night can cause blood vessels to constrict, leading to stiffness in muscles and ligaments. In addition, the medical staff provided guidance and counseling on spinal and joint health management, as well as lifestyle tips to observe during farming activities.
Park Byungmo, chairman of Jaseng Medical Foundation, stated, "I hope this volunteer medical service will provide practical help in improving the health of farmers and local residents," adding, "Jaseng Medical Foundation will continue to reach out to those in medical blind spots, practice sharing, and take the lead in social contribution activities that promote coexistence with the local community."
Meanwhile, Jaseng Medical Foundation has been consistently working to improve the health of medically vulnerable groups both domestically and internationally, based on its management philosophy of 'Geunhyuljisim' (a compassionate heart to help those in need). In particular, the foundation has provided medical and daily necessities support to independence patriots and war veterans, and has signed a 'Korean Medicine Volunteer Service Agreement' with the government of Uzbekistan to carry out volunteer medical activities locally.
