Youth in Gwangsan District, Gwangju, will propose and prioritize policy agendas themselves at the "Youth Assembly," which will be held in celebration of Youth Day. The agendas selected at the event will be directly reflected in next year's budget.
On September 12, Gwangsan District announced that the "2025 Gwangsan Youth Assembly" will be held at Hwangryong Waterside Park from September 20 to 21. This year's theme is "Youth Autumn Policy in Full Bloom."
This marks the fifth year of the Youth Assembly, where four agendas discovered by local youth will be discussed: the "Independent Youth" book publication support project, rental assistance for young entrepreneurs, a customized fitness program for youth, and a youth job fair.
During the assembly, each agenda will be introduced and ranked through on-site voting. The final priorities will be determined by combining the results of a preliminary preference survey and on-site voting. The selected agendas will be implemented as youth participation projects in the 2026 participatory budgeting process.
A variety of cultural events will also take place, including the "Gwangsan Bbyongbbyong Arcade" gaming experience, prize draws, local artist busking, photo booth snapshots, tufting doorbell crafting, glass art, and other side events.
