Hosted by Seongnam City and organized by the Seongnam Cultural Foundation, the "2025 Seongnam Festival" will be held under the slogan "TAG Seongnam," representing Technology, Arts, and Game. This new form of convergence festival aims to offer visitors a glimpse of the "future that has arrived early" by blending technology, the arts, and gaming.
On September 11, Seongnam City and the Seongnam Cultural Foundation held a press conference at Hannuri Hall in Seongnam City Hall, attended by Mayor Sinsangjin, Yoon Jungguk, CEO of the Seongnam Cultural Foundation, and Lee Jinjun, General Director of the Seongnam Festival. During the event, they announced the significance of the festival and its major programs.
At the event, Mayor Sinsangjin stated, "The Seongnam Festival, where art, technology, nature, and people coexist, embodies the city's identity and its future potential. I hope it will grow beyond Seongnam's representative festival to become a global cultural brand."
Yoon Jungguk, CEO of the Seongnam Cultural Foundation, remarked, "The Seongnam Festival will serve as a platform where the foundation's vision of a 'warm digital cultural city' is realized in diverse ways through festival content. I hope citizens will share fantastic experiences through convergence content that blends advanced technology and the arts."
The main content of this year's Seongnam Festival is "Cine Forest: Donghwa (Dynamic Flowers)." Directed by Professor Lee Jinjun, head of the KAIST Art and Technology Center and the festival's general director, a media performance will be staged at the Bundang Central Park Outdoor Stage from September 19 to 21. The forest of Central Park will be transformed into a vast open theater, featuring projection mapping, AI sound technology, a 70-member orchestra, and a 1,000-person citizen choir in a large-scale project. Going beyond traditional classical performances, the event will introduce citizens to a new experience in the form of a "Media Symphony."
General Director Lee Jinjun explained, "'Cine Forest: Donghwa' is not merely a demonstration of technology, but a stage for 'expanded empathy' achieved through the fusion of art and technology. Citizens will not just be spectators, but will become part of the artwork itself. This will represent a new horizon for media art and serve as a symbolic declaration of Seongnam's emergence as a convergence city brand for technology and the arts."

In addition, the 2025 Seongnam Festival will engage citizens with a variety of content. "Seongnam Festival × NEXON," a collaboration with Seongnam's global game company NEXON, will be held at the Bundang District Office Lawn Square and Himangdae Neighborhood Park on September 20 and 21, and again on September 27 and 28. Visitors can enjoy a range of games and interactive programs featuring NEXON's beloved titles such as "MapleStory" and "KartRider Rush Plus."
At Tancheon, families can enjoy a relaxing and fun kayaking experience on September 27 and 28. On the final day of the festival, September 28, a spectacular drone show featuring 3,000 drones will light up the night sky with NEXON characters.
Works by local artists and citizens will also be showcased. Performances by local artists selected through a public contest will take place throughout the festival, and visitors can also view media art pieces by Seongnam artists participating in the upscaling program, as well as citizen-produced videos and media art.
