Chonnam National University Hospital announced on September 11 that Kim Daewon, chairman of Ramada Plaza Gwangju Hotel and By Wyndham Chungjang, who leads these companies as prominent hotel businesses in Gwangju, has donated 50 million won in development sponsorship funds.
The donation ceremony was held on the morning of September 8 in the reception room on the second floor of the administration building. Attendees included President Jung Shin, Vice President for Medical Affairs Yoon Kyungcheol, Vice President for Public Affairs Kim Gwangseok, Director of Planning and Coordination Joo Sungpil, Director of External Cooperation Han Jaeyoung, Head of Nursing Choi Myungyi, as well as Ku Jaegil, chairman of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, among others.
Chairman Kim has donated a total of 100 million won to Chonnam National University Hospital, including this 50 million won, to support the treatment costs of pediatric and low-income patients.
Kim has dedicated himself to the development of the local tourism industry and to volunteer work for crime prevention, serving in various roles such as director of the Gwangju Tourism Association and senior vice chairman of the Gwangju Regional Advisory Committee for Youth Crime Prevention under the Ministry of Justice. He has also consistently demonstrated his love for the community by supporting living expenses for vulnerable groups through the Gwangju and Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, donating rice for free meal centers, providing scholarships to the Gangjin County Scholarship Foundation, and contributing to the Gangjin County Hometown Love Donation Fund.
Furthermore, in July, Kim was inducted as the 188th member of the Gwangju Honor Society, a group of donors who have contributed more than 100 million won to the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea.
Kim stated, "I want to offer my support to help Chonnam National University Hospital, the region's leading public medical institution, provide better treatment and care to patients in need. I will continue to work together for the health and happiness of our local community."
Jung Shin, president of Chonnam National University Hospital, said, "Chairman Kim Daewon's consistent sharing and warm heart have become a great source of hope for many patients and their families. We will make sure that the donated funds are used carefully to provide practical help to patients."
