From 3:00 p.m. on the 13th throughout the Jochiwon area
The "2025 Sejong Hangeul Sulsul Festival," a nighttime event that combines Hangeul and brewing culture, will be held throughout the Jochiwon area.
According to Sejong City on September 11, the "Sejong Hangeul Sulsul Festival" will take place on September 13 from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Sejong Traditional Market's third public parking lot and the Jochiwon Station Plaza, under the theme "Brewed with Hangeul, Connected by Alcohol."
This festival is linked with the Hangeul Pre-Biennale, which is currently being held with great success at venues such as the Jochiwon 1927 Art Center, providing visitors with even more diverse experiences and attractions.
In particular, Jochiwon-eup, where the festival is held, is a region known for its long-standing brewing industry. It serves as the foundation for brewing companies and is a hub of manufacturing technology and expertise. Even during the Japanese colonial period and after the Korean War, Jochiwon's brewing industry preserved traditional methods and local specialty liquors, laying the groundwork for today's traditional liquor industry in the Sejong area.
At the festival, visitors can sample a variety of local liquors, including "Sejong Soju" from Gongsasayangjo, a young startup attracting attention in the Jochiwon region, and "Sejong Hangeul Makgeolli" from Silo Co., Ltd.
The opening ceremony, which begins at 6:00 p.m. that day, will feature performances by a total of four teams: trot singers Kang Hoon and Oh Seungha, the K-POP dance team Majesty, and magician Lee Hoon. There will also be an audience participation prize event held during the performances.
Kim Ryeosu, Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated, "We will continue to develop this unique nighttime festival that blends Hangeul and brewing culture, making it a signature event for Sejong. We hope for the interest and participation of many people in the festival."
