Andong City Council Focuses Supplementary Budget Talks on Livelihood Recovery and Disaster Restoration

On September 9, the Andong City Council in North Gyeongsang Province held the 4th General Assembly Meeting of Council Members for 2025 in the council chamber, where they discussed the third supplementary budget plan for 2025 and six major municipal issues.

Gyeongbuk Andong City Council is holding the 4th General Assembly Meeting of Council Members for 2025.

This supplementary budget focuses on urgent projects such as wildfire and flood recovery, as well as the distribution of consumer coupons to support local livelihoods. The city council emphasized that the budget should prioritize projects that can be executed within the year, in order to revitalize the local economy and ensure the smooth progress of key initiatives, urging the administration to follow through accordingly.

During the municipal issues discussion, a variety of topics were brought to the table, including: the hosting of the 2025 Andong International Mask Dance Festival; the enactment of an ordinance for the establishment and operation of the Andong City Performing Arts Troupe; the 64th Andong Citizens Sports Festival; the operation of the 2025 Andong Agricultural and Livestock Specialty Direct Market "Watni Kkeoaneun Dongjang Teo"; the construction of new purchase-rental housing in wildfire-affected areas; and the establishment of an international joint research center for R2R printed flexible computers.

Kim Kyungdo, Chairperson of the council, stated, "This supplementary budget aims to stabilize citizens' lives through disaster recovery and livelihood support," adding, "I will ensure that the budget is thoroughly executed as planned so that it provides tangible benefits to our citizens."

In preparation for the 260th extraordinary session, the Andong City Council will convene for eight days starting September 12, where they plan to conduct an in-depth review of the supplementary budget bill, various ordinance bills, and other major agenda items.

This meeting was significant in that it went beyond a simple budget review to address issues directly tied to Andong’s future growth engines. The prompt execution of the budget and the momentum behind key projects are seen as critical factors that will determine the success or failure of Andong’s municipal administration going forward.
