Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk held the "2025 Gender Equality Week Commemoration Ceremony" at the Uiseong Cultural Center.

Uiseong Unites for Gender Equality Values Uiseong County in Gyeongbuk held a ceremony to commemorate Gender Equality Week.

The event, held on September 9, was organized under the theme "A Gender-Equal Society Where Everyone Is Respected, A Happy Uiseong for All." It was prepared to mark Gender Equality Week (September 1-7), aiming to promote gender equality culture and strengthen the commitment of residents to put it into practice.

More than 500 members of women's organizations and local residents gathered at the venue to share the values of gender equality. The ceremony featured a pre-event performance to set the mood, followed by awards for distinguished contributors, an introduction to the Four Major Cultural Movements to Overcome the Burden of Low Birthrates, and the "Lighting the Light of Hope" performance, among other diverse programs that added significance to the ceremony.

In particular, the keynote lecture, titled "Family Is a Team," emphasized that cooperation, respect, and the formation of sexually equal relationships among family members are the foundation of a healthy society, leaving a strong impression on attendees. One participant who listened to the lecture remarked, "The message that gender equality must begin at home in order to take root throughout society was especially memorable."

Han Suknyeon, President of the Uiseong County Women's Association Council, stated, "Gender equality is a value that must be practiced together in the home, workplace, and community," adding, "Women's organizations will actively work to ensure that a culture of gender equality becomes firmly established in everyday life."

Kim Jusu, Governor of Uiseong County, emphasized, "Gender equality is not about advancing the interests of a particular gender, but rather the starting point for creating a healthy society where everyone is respected. We will ensure that all residents enjoy equal opportunities and work to build an Uiseong free of discrimination."

Residents interviewed at the event agreed that the topic of "gender equality" should not remain a policy slogan but must be a task practiced in daily life. The presence of both young people and the middle-aged at the venue demonstrated that gender equality is becoming a new point of consensus in the community, transcending generations and social classes.
