KCCI Hosts Korea Business Day in Germany... Exploring Cooperation in Advanced Industries and Defense

"Korean Companies, Trusted Partners"

The Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on September 10 (local time) that it held the "Korea Business Day 2025" forum at the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Germany. The event, which was attended by around 150 business leaders from both countries under the theme "Korea-Germany Future Cooperation Tasks Amid Uncertainty in the Global Trade Environment," was the first joint event organized by the Frankfurt office of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry since its establishment last year.

During the event, a panel discussion was held on future promising industrial cooperation, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and smart factories. From Korea, Doosan Robotics and Samsung SDS participated, while from Germany, global optics and optoelectronics company Zeiss and Germany Trade & Invest discussed cooperation agendas in the fields of generative AI and smart factories.

In the keynote session, the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Deloitte Germany highlighted the defense industry, which has recently emerged as a promising field for cooperation between the two countries. Thorsten Hoh, Partner at Deloitte Germany, stated, "Europe is working to strengthen its domestic defense industry, but still lacks advanced core technologies. Korean companies, with their strengths in areas such as drones and missile defense, can be reliable partners."

In the session aimed at revitalizing bilateral investment, discussions were held on strategies for entering the Korean market and successful case studies. For domestic companies seeking to enter Germany, information was provided on the local investment environment, support systems, and ways to respond to EU regulations.

Ulrich Caspar, President of the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which co-hosted the event, said, "I hope that, based on a relationship of trust, we can jointly respond to the opportunities and challenges presented by technological and geopolitical changes." Kim Eunjeong, Consul General in Frankfurt, stated, "I hope today's event will serve as an important foundation for strengthening the friendship and future partnership between business leaders of both countries." Yoon Cheolmin, Head of International Trade at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, "We will make this forum a regular annual event and develop it into a key platform for Korea-Germany economic cooperation."
