On September 10, police conducted a search and seizure at Yongin City Hall in Gyeonggi Province in connection with allegations that the city used its budget to produce banners in the names of affiliated organizations to promote the mayor's municipal policies.
According to the Yongin Dongbu Police Station and Yongin City, police began the search and seizure at around 9 a.m. that day, targeting related departments such as the administrative division of Yongin City Hall.
Police are investigating allegations that certain community service centers in Yongin City repeatedly commissioned banners in the names of specific affiliated organizations using office management expenses, and used these banners to promote the mayor's pledges and achievements.
Previously, in January, Assemblyman Park Incheol of the Democratic Party of Korea in the Yongin City Council raised these suspicions and requested a police investigation.
A police official stated, "We cannot confirm details regarding an ongoing investigation."
