On September 10, Gwangsan District in Gwangju announced that it will conduct a survey to strengthen traffic safety management in child protection zones within the region.
The survey will be carried out from this month through November. It will cover a total of 54 locations, including 44 elementary schools, 2 alternative and special schools, and 8 kindergartens.
Gwangsan District will analyze the current situation, including the frequency of traffic accidents, vehicle traffic volume, and the status of parking and stopping. The district will also check whether child protection zone facilities comply with regulations, while identifying issues and the need for improvements. Based on the survey results, the district will develop measures to enhance the effectiveness of child protection zone operations.
Earlier, to mark the start of the new school term, Gwangsan District conducted a traffic safety campaign on September 10 in collaboration with the Gwangsan Police Station and the Gwangsan Green Mothers' Association. The campaign took place around Seonun Elementary School and Seongdeok Elementary School, promoting proper pedestrian habits such as prohibiting the use of smartphones while walking under the theme "Stop, Look, Walk," and encouraging drivers to comply with traffic laws.
