Gwangju Office of Education Announces Partial Revision of Middle School Districts and School Zones Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education.

On September 10, the city’s Office of Education announced the “Partial Revision of Gwangju Metropolitan City Middle School Districts and School Zones for the 2026 Academic Year” on its website. This is a follow-up measure reflecting the notice passed at the 336th temporary session of the Gwangju City Council on September 5.

The revisions include changes to administrative neighborhoods and school names resulting from adjustments to administrative districts. In addition, the school districts for Chammiru Elementary School in Yongdu-dong, Buk-gu, and Unsu Elementary School in Unsu-dong, Gwangsan-gu, both scheduled to open in March next year, have been newly designated.

For Bityeoul Elementary School, its affiliation has been expanded from the existing second school district to include the third school district as well. As a result, starting with students graduating in February 2026, they will be eligible to apply to schools in the third district. This adjustment reflects the results of the “Gwangju Metropolitan City Middle School District and School Zone Improvement Study” that has been underway since 2023.
