The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education announced the "2026 Daegu Metropolitan Public Kindergarten, Elementary, and Special (Elementary) School Teacher Candidate Selection Competitive Examination Implementation Plan" on its official website at 10:00 a.m. on September 10.
The number of public school teachers to be recruited for the 2026 academic year is 99, consisting of 11 for kindergartens, 78 for elementary schools, and 10 for special (elementary) schools. This is an increase of 3 compared to the 2025 academic year.
Applications will be accepted online only through the "Online Faculty Recruitment System" for five days, from 9:00 a.m. on September 22 to 6:00 p.m. on September 26.
The first round of the exam will be held on November 8, and the second round will take place over three days from January 7 to January 9, 2026. The final successful candidates will be announced on January 28, 2026.
Meanwhile, since the abolition of the validity period for the Korean History Proficiency Test scores starting with the 2024 teacher recruitment exam, all scores from the 76th test (grade 3 or higher) are now valid for this exam. In addition, the scope of the curriculum for the first round now includes the 2022 revised curriculum, which has been expanded to cover all elementary grades.
On the other hand, private elementary schools conduct their own recruitment through public selection by each foundation, so applicants should refer to the announcements on the respective foundation or school websites. There will be no new recruitment for elementary school teachers at private special schools for the 2026 academic year.
