Starring Park Yudeok, Nam Gyeongju, Lee Junhyeok, Park Soyeon, and Hwang Minsu
The city of Iksan, North Jeolla Province, will host a performance of the musical 'Sejong 1446,' depicting the life of King Sejong, at the Grand Theater of Iksan Arts Center at 5 p.m. on September 27.
According to the city on September 10, the musical 'Sejong 1446' is a production that tells the story of Chungnyeong (King Sejong), who was never meant to become king, and his journey of overcoming conflict to ascend the throne. The title '1446' refers to the year when Hangeul was promulgated.
The production delicately portrays the inner world of Sejong the Great, focusing on the creation and proclamation of Hunminjeongeum, which encapsulates his spirit of caring for the people, and sheds light on the lesser-known aspects of Sejong as a human being.
In particular, it is highly regarded as a work that demonstrates the strength of Korean original musicals, thanks to its meticulously researched and solid storyline, complemented by stage art, music, and choreography.
The grand stage featuring Jangjimun panels, splendid royal costumes, music with Korean melodies, and powerful group dance performances will offer the audience both deep emotion and a spectacular visual experience.
In this production, Park Yudeok will play King Sejong, Nam Gyeongju will portray King Taejong, and Lee Junhyeok will appear as the fictional character Jeon Haeun, who opposes Sejong. In addition, Park Soyeon will take on the role of Queen Sohun, and Hwang Minsu will perform dual roles as Yangnyeong and Jang Yeong-sil.
This performance is open to elementary school students and older. Tickets can be reserved through the Iksan Arts Center website and 'NOL Ticket' (formerly Interpark Ticket).
