Former Presidential Office Staff Secretly Brings Mobile Phone During Visit
Shows Pet Photos and Videos to Yoon; Ministry of Justice Files Complaint
Former President Yoon Sukyeol is facing allegations that he viewed photos and videos of his pet dog using a smuggled mobile phone while in detention.
According to documents confirmed by Assemblywoman Park Eunjung of the Innovation Party for Justice on September 10, Kang Uigu, former Presidential Office Secretary, visited former President Yoon at the Seoul Detention Center on February 21. At that time, Kang brought a mobile phone into the visitation area without the warden's permission and showed former President Yoon photos and videos of his pet dog. This was revealed through an official investigation.
"Here are the photos and videos." ... "I see. They seem to be doing well."

According to an audio recording of the incident, when Kang mentioned the dog's name and said, "Here are the photos and videos," former President Yoon responded, "I see. They seem to be doing well." The Ministry of Justice reportedly confirmed these details while investigating allegations of preferential treatment for former President Yoon at the detention center.
Regarding this matter, the Ministry of Justice filed a complaint against Kang with the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency, citing a violation of Article 133 of the Act on the Execution of Criminal Penalties. Article 133 stipulates that bringing electronic or communication devices into a correctional facility without the warden's permission is punishable by up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 30 million won.

It has also been reported that, in addition to Kang, former President Yoon repeatedly asked other Presidential Office staff who visited him about the well-being of his pet dogs. On January 24, during a visit from Kim Junghwan, former Chief Aide to the President, Yoon inquired about the dogs' condition. Yoon asked, "Are the puppies doing well? They haven't become withdrawn, have they?" to which Kim reportedly replied, "Yes. They are sitting on the sofa where you used to rest."
Former President Yoon and his wife have raised a total of six pet dogs, including a Jindo named Mari, as well as Tori, Sunny, Winnie, and Bunny, along with five cats. Even just before his arrest in January, Yoon was seen saying, "I need to see Tori before I go," and spending time with his pets. Since both he and his wife were recently detained, it is reported that their pets remain at their residence in Seocho-dong, being cared for by an aide of Kim Keonhee.
