Through this agreement, the two parties plan to establish a multifaceted collaborative system, including sharing information and building networks for tourism in Busan's old downtown, operating customized programs for foreign tourists, and jointly cooperating to invigorate the local tourism industry and contribute to the economy.
Recently, the number of foreign tourists visiting Busan's old downtown area (around Nampo-dong) has been rapidly increasing.
In particular, from January to July of this year, 460,000 tourists from Greater China visited, showing a steady upward trend. In response, the two organizations plan to launch a joint familiarization tour by inviting YouTubers and influencers from Greater China, with a focus on promoting the diverse foreigner services and specialized content provided by Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch.
Furthermore, with visa-free entry for Chinese tourists permitted from September, both parties will intensify efforts to attract even more Chinese visitors.
To this end, they will strengthen one-stop shopping infrastructure within the Gwangbok Branch, such as a dedicated information desk for foreigners, fast tax refunds and currency exchange, and luggage storage. In addition, they plan to expand promotions and exclusive benefits tailored to Chinese tourists.
Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch will also produce and distribute a coupon book exclusively for foreigners, reflecting the latest Korean trends, to actively promote K-fashion and K-food. Alongside specialized services for cruise tourists, the store will introduce the "Top 10 Busan Souvenirs," featuring items that showcase the unique culture of Busan to visitors.
Seokmin Cho, Branch Manager of Lotte Department Store Gwangbok Branch, stated, "Through this business agreement, we will support foreign tourists so that they can enjoy even more special experiences in Busan's old downtown," adding, "We will do our best to establish the Gwangbok Branch as a leading shopping and tourism destination representing Busan."
