Three Events from September to November
Energizing the Local Economy with Food, Play Zones, and Special Events
The Yanggu Central Market Merchants Association in Gangwon Province will host the "Yanggu Night Market: Eat and Play at the Market" on September 12 and 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Yanggu Central Market. This night market will be held monthly from September through November, aiming to provide new sales channels for local small business owners, expand opportunities to sell local specialties and local food, and revitalize the local economy.
The night market will feature a new theme every month, offering a unique experience each time. September's theme is "Night Market with Music," and it will be run as a participatory market where both residents and tourists can join in the fun.
During the event, attractions such as a four-cut photo booth and an air bounce will be available for children, while busking performances by local musicians, who are volunteering their talents, will further highlight the "Night Market with Music" theme.
Various events will also take place. Visitors who use the night market and submit their receipts will have a chance to win a 10,000 won gifticon, with 10 winners selected per session. There will also be a stamp tour event for children and teenagers, encouraging them to explore the shops within the central market.
This night market will feature seven participating vendors, offering a variety of foods that everyone can enjoy, such as chicken feet, assorted jeon, sweet and spicy fried chicken, fresh fruit juice, and chicken skewers. Rest areas will be set up so that visitors can comfortably enjoy their purchased food.
For visitors' convenience, a map of the night market area and menus will be provided at each table. To address previous issues with food waste disposal, designated dish return areas and separate waste collection stations will be installed throughout the venue, ensuring a pleasant and clean night market environment.
Imi Sook, head of the Economic and Sports Division, said, "This night market will be held every month until November, offering a variety of attractions and activities for residents and tourists. In particular, since September's event is prepared as a night market with music, we hope you enjoy the rich performances and experiences. We will continue to make this a special market that revitalizes the local economy and showcases the charm of the central market."
