Sales Begin at 3:00 p.m. on September 16
Dongjak District in Seoul (Mayor Park Ilha) will issue 5 billion won worth of “Dongjak Love Gift Certificates” ahead of the Chuseok holiday to boost the local economy and expand benefits for residents. This issuance is the fifth and final batch for this year, bringing the total annual issuance to 30 billion won.
The gift certificates will be available for purchase through the Seoul Pay Plus (Seoul Pay+) app starting at 3:00 p.m. on September 16. Each individual can purchase up to 500,000 won per month, with a personal holding limit of 1.5 million won. The certificates can be used like cash at 14,252 affiliated stores within the district, and 30% of the amount spent is eligible for income tax deduction at the end of the year.
This edition of the gift certificates offers the highest discount rate in Seoul, with benefits of up to 12%. Buyers receive an immediate 7% discount off the face value at the time of purchase, and an additional 5% payback is provided when using the (New) Dongjak Love Gift Certificates. However, the payback is available on a first-come, first-served basis within a budget limit of 80 million won, and is automatically credited on the 20th of the month following the payment date.
The district has continued to issue gift certificates during major periods such as the Lunar New Year, Family Month, and the Seoul International Garden Expo, contributing to the stabilization of residents’ livelihoods and increasing sales for small business owners.
Park Ilha, Mayor of Dongjak District, stated, “In celebration of Chuseok, our nation’s biggest holiday, we are issuing the Dongjak Love Gift Certificates as a special measure to energize local businesses and provide tangible benefits to our residents. I hope everyone enjoys a frugal and abundant Chuseok while taking advantage of the maximum 12% discount benefits.”
