The city announced that it reopened the playground on September 8 after expanding the area for large dogs and installing a QR code-based automatic entry system within Jeongbalsan Park's dog playground.

Previously, medium and small dogs, as well as large dogs, had to use the same space at different times. With this renovation, separate playgrounds for medium and small dogs and for large dogs have been established, allowing anyone to use the facilities free of charge year-round without time restrictions.

Additionally, double entry doors and CCTV have been installed to enhance safety, and artificial turf has been laid inside the playground to create a pleasant space for both guardians and their dogs. Security lights have also been installed, making the playground available 24 hours a day, even at night.

Notably, the newly introduced automatic entry system allows registered dog owners to open the gate by authenticating with a QR code. This is expected to prevent unregistered dogs from using the facility indiscriminately and to contribute to safe management and the establishment of a responsible pet ownership culture.

Kim Yunhee, head of the animal organization Jeongbalsan Class, expressed deep gratitude and satisfaction, saying, "Jeongbalsan Dog Playground is a space for both dogs and citizens. I am very pleased that dogs can now play freely and comfortably in a safe environment."

An official from Goyang Special City stated, "Jeongbalsan Dog Playground is more than just a play area; it is a public facility where pet owners and their dogs can interact safely. We will continue to expand pet-friendly cultural spaces in response to citizens' needs."

In line with the increasing number of pet owners, Goyang Special City plans to gradually expand various welfare policies and infrastructure, while also promoting a range of initiatives to foster a mature and healthy pet culture.
