Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on September 10 that the Metropolitan Transport Commission (Daegwangwi) under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has selected two routes, No. 1200 and No. 1500, for the 2025 Metropolitan Bus Semi-Public Operation System project.

Previously, since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, the city has incorporated five routes-No. 1000, M7119, M7731, M7412, and 7602-into the semi-public system. This year, two additional routes have been included, and the city plans to stably operate around 140 metropolitan buses on a total of seven routes.
The Metropolitan Bus Semi-Public Operation System, one of Mayor Lee Donghwan's key pledges, aims to strengthen public service and provide stable transportation by compensating for the losses of transport operators. As a result, it is expected that shorter intervals between buses and a stable workforce of drivers will allow citizens to enjoy higher-quality metropolitan transportation services.
The newly selected No. 1200 route will operate from Deogi District through Tanhyeon Jungsan and Madu Station to Sungnyemun (Seoul Station), directly connecting the outskirts of Ilsan to Daegok Station on the GTX-A line and to downtown Seoul.
The No. 1500 route is a major southwestern route connecting Gyoha, Unjeong, Ilsan-dong and Ilsan-seo Districts, and Yeongdeungpo. With the transition of these two routes to the semi-public system, commuting for residents of Paju and Goyang is expected to become even more convenient.
After the routes are selected, the city will designate transport operators and complete operational preparations, aiming to finish the transition to the semi-public system and begin service as early as within this year.
Lee Donghwan, Mayor of Goyang Special City, stated, "The transition of routes No. 1200 and No. 1500 to the semi-public system is an important achievement for improving transportation convenience for citizens. We will continue to work closely with the Metropolitan Transport Commission to ensure that all major metropolitan bus routes in Goyang City are included in the semi-public operation system."
