A Comprehensive Tourism Festival Blending Traditional Liquor, Appetizers, and Gastronomy
A Rich Array of On-Site Programs from Opening Ceremony to Contests and Events
Excitement Builds with Pre-Events, Brewery Tours, and the Mini Alcohol Festa
'Chuncheon's Alcohol and Gastronomy' will once again come together in one place.
Chuncheon City in Gangwon Province announced on September 9 that the "2025 Chuncheon Alcohol Festa," an event aimed at promoting the value of traditional alcohol and fostering the specialized liquor industry, will be held over two days on the 26th and 27th at KT&G Sangsangmadang Chuncheon.
Now in its fifth year, the festival brings together a wide variety of traditional liquors brewed in Chuncheon, introducing them in one venue. It also highlights the appeal of Chuncheon as a "gourmet city" by pairing local agricultural foods with appetizers and culinary culture. Each year, the festival attracts between 12,000 and 15,000 visitors, maintaining steady growth.
The theme for this year's festival is "A City Where Alcohol and Gastronomy Meet," with expanded scale and content. Although alcohol is the main focus, the event goes beyond simple tastings to offer a comprehensive culinary tourism experience that includes tourism, culture, and hands-on activities, ensuring enjoyment for all visitors.
The opening ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on the 26th, featuring a variety of cultural and artistic performances, family-friendly shows, and the Sool Festa Karaoke. The festival grounds will also include booths from Chuncheon breweries, experience and promotional booths, food booths and food trucks, the Chuncheon Alcohol Exhibition Hall, PUB ZONE, and RIVER VIEW ZONE.
Throughout the Sangsangmadang area, visitors can enjoy Chuncheon Matjurumarble, busking performances, the Farmer's Flea Market, a local food zone, and food trucks. Participatory programs such as resin art glass making, wish cap launching, bottle cap crafts, and art experiences are also prepared. In addition, a variety of on-site events will be available, including pre-registration events, sales promotion events, a stamp tour, and scratch-off lottery events. The festival is already building excitement with a variety of preliminary events. Starting with the "Seoul International Alcohol & Wine Expo" held at COEX on June 26, a rich lineup of programs has been presented, including the "Antenna Shop" in collaboration with Hwadong 2571 and the "Appetizer Recipe Contest" in which citizens participated directly.
More pre-events are scheduled to follow. On the 13th and 20th, the "Pieno Tour (Brewery Tour)" will connect local breweries and tourist attractions through three different courses, offering a unique experience that combines alcohol, travel, and hands-on activities.
On the 13th and 14th, a traditional liquor promotion and tasting booth will be set up at the "Pet Festival" held at the Animation Museum in Seomyeon, adding a new layer of enjoyment. During the same period, the "Mini Alcohol Festa" at the World Liquor Market will not only feature tastings and sales of Chuncheon traditional liquors, but also a special pairing event matching award-winning appetizer recipes from the contest with traditional liquors.
Chuncheon Mayor Yuk Donghan said, "I hope the Chuncheon Alcohol Festa becomes a venue where citizens can enjoy the taste and charm of traditional liquors and experience their value," adding, "I look forward to many citizens participating and sharing the appeal of our local traditional liquors."
