The city of Chuncheon in Gangwon Province (Mayor Yuk Donghan) announced on September 9 that the 2025 Chuncheon Pet Festival will be held on September 13 and 14 at the Animation Museum and its surrounding areas in Seomyeon. This year's festival theme is "A Pet Nation Resembling Chuncheon, Bomnae Footprints (Guk)," capturing Chuncheon's warm pet culture and embodying the city's vision and identity as a pet-friendly city.

Now in its fifth year since 2021, the pet festival aims to establish a desirable pet culture and create a space for all citizens to connect. Chuncheon City is also implementing various policies to lay the foundation for the growth of the pet industry.

This year's festival is designed as an all-encompassing event combining culture, education, experiences, and sports for pets. The program includes an industry expo, a film festival, exciting dog sports competitions, and a walking parade with rescue dogs, offering a variety of stages for pets and people to enjoy together.

At the industry expo, startups from Chuncheon and various domestic companies will participate to showcase the latest pet industry products and services, including food, supplies, medical care, and healthcare. The film festival, in collaboration with the Chuncheon Film Festival, will feature screenings and awards for animal-themed submissions, Q&A sessions with audiences, and interactive events, bringing pet culture to the screen.

Most notably, the Dog Sports Championship, featuring over 350 teams, is expected to draw attention. Top domestic competitors will compete in two categories: Agility and Skyhoundz. Winners in the Skyhoundz category will earn the right to participate in international competitions, promising an exciting and dynamic event.

There will also be a walking parade with rescue dogs from the Chuncheon Animal Protection Center. The parade will include a meeting event with families who have adopted rescue dogs, promoting the culture of pet adoption and raising awareness about animal protection.

Additionally, the "Animal Plaza," organized and run by the Student Council of Kangwon National University College of Veterinary Medicine, will return to engage citizens. This pet experience and participation program, which received a great response last year, will be even more extensive this year.

The festival grounds will feature a dog playground, a "Wait & Talent Show," special lectures on training methods, paw print frame-making, grooming, health check-ups, and a variety of other hands-on programs.

In particular, the city has been conducting regular eco-friendly disinfection measures for a month prior to the festival, ensuring that visitors and their pets can safely enjoy the event on the lawns.

A Chuncheon City official stated, "We are preparing a comprehensive pet festival that brings together industry, culture, and sports," adding, "It will be a time to share inspiration and memories with your pets."
