It has been 11 days since a disaster was declared in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, which is experiencing the worst drought on record. This week, rain is forecasted for the area. The expected rainfall for each region will be announced on the 11th, and citizens are desperately hoping for substantial precipitation.
According to the Gangwon Regional Meteorological Administration on September 9, due to a low-pressure system passing over the Korean Peninsula on the 13th, the probability of rain in the Yeongdong region, including Gangneung, is forecasted to be 80% in the morning and 70% in the afternoon. The same probability of rain is expected for the Yeongseo region.

However, the Korea Meteorological Administration noted that the areas and timing of rainfall could change depending on shifts in the surrounding pressure systems, such as the position of the North Pacific high-pressure edge and tropical disturbances.
As rain is forecasted amidst the severe drought, residents are sharing the news in local online communities and expressing their earnest hopes. Citizens commented, "I hope the forecast is accurate," and "I really hope we get a lot of rain."
