Gongju City Provides "Filial Piety Incentive Payment" to Three-Generation Households for Chuseok

Gongju City in South Chungcheong Province is promoting a warm culture of filial piety during the Chuseok holiday by providing a "Filial Piety Incentive Payment," in line with its reputation as a region known for honoring filial duty.

The city announced on September 9 that it will accept applications for the Filial Piety Incentive Payment until September 19 from three-generation households in which direct ancestors and direct descendants aged 75 or older live together.

Eligible applicants are heads of households born on or before December 31, 1950, who have resided in Gongju City for more than one year. If the person eligible for filial piety is the head of household, a caregiver may apply on their behalf.

The amount of support is 200,000 won per household, and it will be provided either by bank transfer or as "Gongju Pay," depending on the applicant's choice.

However, households that received the payment under the same conditions during this year's Lunar New Year do not need to reapply unless there have been changes in their circumstances.

Mayor Choi Woncheol stated, "Through the Filial Piety Incentive Payment, we hope to reaffirm the value of filial duty in our community and will continue to promote various initiatives to uphold a culture of respect for elders and family."
