This event, held over two days on the 7th and 8th under the slogan "Travel Domestically and Spend Locally," aimed to revitalize the local economy.
More than 70 people attended, including representatives from member companies of the Korea Information Industry Cooperative and invited guests. The cooperative provided each participant with Onnuri gift certificates worth 100,000 won, totaling 7 million won, to be used directly at Danyang's representative traditional market, Gugyeong Market. Additionally, the cooperative purchased Danyang's renowned specialty, Danyang six-clove garlic, worth 13 million won, through local merchants. Participants experienced the charm of the traditional market by purchasing local agricultural products, specialties, and food, and contributed to the activation of regional gift certificates.
This initiative is a practical example of supporting the "Domestic Demand and Consumption Revitalization Campaign" recently launched jointly by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Associations. The campaign, under the slogan "A Real Korea Where We Consume and Grow Together," aims to help restore the livelihoods of ordinary people and strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets through domestic travel and local spending.
Han Byungjun, Chairman of the Korea Information Industry Cooperative, emphasized, "Small actions of spending in local areas through domestic travel collectively become a great force for the regional economy. Our cooperative, together with representatives of member companies, will continue to engage in activities that contribute to the recovery of the local economy and the revitalization of traditional markets."
A representative of the Gugyeong Market Merchants Association also stated, "It has been a great encouragement to merchants that company representatives personally visited and spent money at the traditional market. We hope this event will serve as an opportunity to invigorate the local economy of Danyang."
