Jeongeup City to Host Lecture by Oxford Professor Cho Ji-eun on September 18

This lecture will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Yeonji Art Hall under the theme "Parenting and Well-being in the Age of Artificial Intelligence." It is expected to resonate deeply not only with parents and youth, but also with citizens interested in education.

The lecture is especially meaningful as Professor Cho Ji-eun, the only Korean professor at the prestigious Oxford University in the United Kingdom, has made time to visit Jeongeup and offer a special session for local citizens despite her busy academic schedule.

Professor Cho will address the topic "Educational Well-being in the AI Era with Your Children," sharing various studies and real-life examples on how to guide children's education and learning in a healthy way amid the rapidly changing AI environment.

She will also present practical strategies that can be implemented at home, such as methods for language acquisition to improve foreign language skills and literacy, the importance of early language exposure, and ways to create an environment where children can naturally become familiar with books.

Professor Cho, who holds a master's degree in linguistics from Seoul National University and a doctorate in linguistics from King's College London, currently serves as a professor at the Faculty of Oriental Studies at Oxford University.

Her major works include "Children of English," "The Sense of Study Is Completed Before Age 10," and "You Can Do Well Without Attending an English Kindergarten." She is also active in both academia and literature, having published novels and poetry collections.

Participation is limited to the first 200 people who register in advance, and applications can be submitted through the city hall website (Integrated Reservation - Danpung Academy) until September 17. For more details, please contact the Jeongeup City Talent Development Division.
