Kakao Bank Provides Homes to the Extremely Poor Through Volunteer Work in Indonesia

A 50-Member Volunteer Group Including Local Partner "Superbank"
Activities to Improve Educational and Residential Environments

A volunteer group of 50 people, consisting of 20 Kakao Bank employees and about 30 employees from Superbank, a local partner bank in Indonesia, carried out activities to improve educational and residential environments.

This volunteer program took place from August 31 to September 6, 2025, in the Rajek area of Tangerang, Indonesia. The volunteer group directly participated in the construction of 17 homes to support extremely low-income families living in poor housing conditions. For this initiative, Kakao Bank donated 300 million won to Habitat for Humanity Korea, a non-governmental organization (NGO).

They also worked to improve the educational environment. The volunteer group donated 21 new computers and equipment to Bakti Pertiwi Middle School in the Rajek area, establishing the "Kakao Bank ICT LAB," an information and communications technology (ICT) classroom. This school, attended by about 200 students, previously suffered from a lack of ICT infrastructure, forcing more than 15 students to share a single computer. With this support, students now have access to a modern classroom dedicated to ICT.

An exchange program was also organized. The volunteers taught students how to write their names in Korean and enjoyed traditional Korean games such as Ttakji-nori and Gongginori together. They also decorated traditional Korean fans with drawings, spending time building cultural connections with local students.

Kakao Bank is practicing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management not only in Korea but also overseas. Overseas volunteer activities have continued for three consecutive years, including this year. In July, Kakao Bank signed an agreement with UNICEF headquarters and the Korean Committee for UNICEF to donate 2 million dollars (approximately 2.6 billion won) over the next two years. The funds will be used for youth climate crisis response programs in countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, and Thailand.

Kakao Bank stated, "It was even more meaningful to carry out local social contribution activities together with Superbank, our partner in the Indonesian market," adding, "We will continue to participate in various ESG activities with our employees, realizing the values of mutual growth and sharing."
