On September 8, Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced that it is holding the "Gokseong County Excellent Products Promotion" event for seven days until the 10th at Hanaro Mart Yangjae Branch in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
This event, themed "Sweet and Fragrant, Fall in Love with Gokseong," has been organized to promote the region's representative agricultural and specialty products to consumers in the Seoul metropolitan area and to pioneer new sales channels. Participating directly are companies registered on the Gokseong Mall platform and local farmers.
Twelve companies, including Gokseong Nonghyup, Seokgok Nonghyup, and Okgwa Nonghyup, are taking part in the promotion. A total of 30 products are being showcased, such as Gokseong melon, organic new rice, taro stems, taro Makgeolli, handmade sausages, grain syrup, and traditional soybean paste and red pepper paste. The diverse selection, spanning fresh produce and processed foods, is expected to convey Gokseong’s unique appeal to metropolitan consumers.
The event venue is organized into four zones: fresh produce, grains, processed foods, and a promotional hall, creating a comprehensive space to showcase the tastes and brands of Gokseong. In particular, tasting events for key items such as Baeksemi rice, Brainmi rice, and handmade sausages are being held throughout the event period, attracting many visitors.
The manager in charge of Gokseong Mall operations stated, "This Hanaro Mart promotion is a valuable opportunity for Gokseong Mall and local farmers to directly interact with consumers in the metropolitan area. We will continue to actively pursue various distribution revitalization policies to widely promote the excellence of Gokseong's agricultural specialties and increase farmers' incomes."
The county plans to use this event to gauge consumer response in the metropolitan area, reflect the feedback in product improvements and marketing strategies, and work to raise awareness of Gokseong Mall and attract new members.
In addition, Gokseong County intends to lay the groundwork for expanding distribution channels to department stores and large supermarkets, thereby continuously diversifying sales routes for Gokseong’s agricultural and specialty products.
