This launch ceremony was organized to officially announce the establishment of the Namyangju Cultural Foundation and to mark a new beginning for the promotion of arts and culture. The city plans to use the foundation as a solid platform to enable all citizens to enjoy culture in their daily lives and to support the creative activities of local artists.
More than 400 people attended the ceremony, including Mayor Joo Kwangdeok, city council members, foundation executives, local artists, and CEOs of other cultural foundations, making the event a great success.
The event began with a pre-ceremony performance by the Namyangju City Children's Choir, followed by a report on the foundation's establishment process, a presentation of its vision, launch and congratulatory speeches, and an official declaration of the foundation's launch. The ceremony also featured a celebratory performance by the Gyeonggi Provincial Dance Company and a commemorative photo session, further highlighting the significance of the occasion.
Going forward, the city and the foundation plan to establish mid- and long-term development strategies and to pursue projects that reflect the voices of the field through communication meetings with local artists. They also intend to accelerate Namyangju-style cultural policies by planning and proposing external public projects and offering a variety of programs such as performances, exhibitions, and community culture activities.
In his launch speech, Mayor Joo Kwangdeok emphasized the foundation's vision and mission, stating, "The executives and staff of the Namyangju Cultural Foundation must carry on the innovative and people-centered spirit of Dasan Jeong Yak-yong, working to ensure that all citizens can enjoy culture." He added, "The foundation must strive to help Namyangju become an open cultural city that embraces both tradition and modernity while engaging with the world."
