The 'English Language Fellow Program' is a flagship international educational cooperation initiative of the U.S. Department of State, which has dispatched English education experts to more than 80 countries over the past 50 years to support the enhancement of local educational capacities.

The Center for Intercultural Education and Development (CIED) under Georgetown University is responsible for program operations and fellow selection, while the U.S. Embassy in Korea provides administrative support.

Through this collaboration, the Graduate School of TESOL at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies will conduct educational and research activities alongside English education experts who have undergone a rigorous selection process by the U.S. Department of State.

The Fellow scheduled to be dispatched this month is an expert with extensive TESOL teaching experience at the University of Utah in the United States, and will join the TESOL faculty to engage in a variety of activities, including teaching courses, guiding students, and providing mentoring.

Through this process, current students will have the opportunity to interact directly with world-class experts, thereby strengthening both their practical skills and research capabilities. In addition, the initiative is expected to make a substantial contribution to the innovation of the TESOL curriculum and the advancement of English education in Korea.

Kim Jieun, Dean of the Graduate School of TESOL, stated, "This collaboration is an important milestone for expanding the global network and enhancing the international standing of the Graduate School of TESOL," adding, "We hope that our students will be able to strengthen both their practical abilities in the field of English education and their international competitiveness through specialized classes and mentoring."

The Graduate School of TESOL at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies plans to continue close cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Korea to expand various educational activities, including international academic exchanges, joint research, and public seminars.
